Planning for the Super Game!
It’s that time of year again where we all plan to gather around the biggest flat screen TV we can find and watch 2 teams many of us probably don’t care much about duke it out for the rights to a ring and a trophy. But hey, any excuse to throw a party, right? Last year I wrote several football related posts which included this Big Game menu from Hostess with the Mostess. This year I have a whole host of new recipes to share. I’ve been scouring for weeks looking for the best!I rounded up some of the most awesome decorating ideas, too!
Food Network has a hundreds of ideas for Big Game party menus. I’m a huge fan of the 32 different potato skins for every NFL team. This year we we all be watching the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Green Bay Packers.
Food Network suggests Steel City Sausage Skins for the Steelers and Wisconsin Beer Brat Potato Skins for the Packers. With ingredients like beer cheese spread, sauteed onions, mustard and sauerkraut (and lots of meat!) you probably could please a large crowd with these potato skins.
For other city specific ideas, including Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Soup and Pittsburgh Cheese Steaks, head over to Big Game central on the Food Network website.
For the last couple of years I have become a huge fan of the Big Game party ideas from Hostess with the Mostess. With easy ideas like yellow “penalty flag” napkins and a football field table cloth, it would be fairly easy to pull this look off. I love the inclusion of the little goal posts and football players. If you want to get her look for this football table, you can read all about it here.
A couple of weeks ago I came across this recipe for creamy avocado dip with warm taco baked potato chips from Cheeky Kitchen. I’ve been saving it back, waiting for game night, but then yesterday avocados were on sale at my local grocer for 5 for $4, so I might have to make this recipe a couple days early to test it and make sure it is as delicious as it sounds before I make it again and take it to any party.
Meylah is one of my new favorite craft blogs, and a couple of weeks ago they posted A Belly Busting Menu to wrap up football season. With recipes like Boilermaker chili, and (seriously) Velveeta fudge, if you still haven’t decided what you are making yet, you might want to check this menu out!
I want to say I really think I saved the best for last with this football party themed table from Spaceships and Lazerbeams. Spaceships and Lazerbeams creates fun printables for themed parties for boys, and yes, the banner says “Happy Birthday” but minus the banner, all of these ideas would make for a great Big Game themed party. Or, if you happen to be me, whose birthday actually falls on the SAME DAY as the Big Game this year, you’d be really lucky if you got to have a birthday party with all these awesome football printables and treats!
I just have to keep gushing about this football themed party. If it weren’t for CraftGossip.com, I wouldn’t have been tipped off to this. I really love it so much, and it’s probably because I’ve had to share several birthdays over the past few years with this Big Game, but this is pretty awesome, especially for a girl who likes football.
So, of all these great ideas, which do you think you will put into action this upcoming Big Day night? Got any exciting recipes you want to share? Leave a link below to your blog if you have any game day posts you want to share or tell me, what’s one of your favorite recipes?
